Specifications
Resolution Requirement:
All Photoshop or other (tiff) bitmapped digital images should be supplied at a resolution of 150 ppi
(pixels per inch) at the finish size of the graphic being produced. EXAMPLE: a 24” x 36” bitmap
file will be about 55 Megabytes in size at 150 ppi. In some instances, you can use 100 ppi resolution ("size-as")
to keep file sizes smaller. In this case, the LightJet will interpolate the file to 150 dpi with minimal quality
loss.
Scanning:
Using scanned images in tradeshow can be tricky if you do not understand resolution! The proper resolution
for scanned images is really dependant on the viewing distance for the finished print. For view distances of
less than 5 feet scanned images SHOULD BE AT LEAST 100 ppi at their actual final output size ("Size-As").
At viewing distances of 6 feet or greater, lower resolutions are acceptable such as 80 dpi. It would be advisable
to get a proof print for each image to enable you to view it at the appropriate distance.
Use Quark EPS or Tiff files if at all possible! Other file types will need to be converted:
Microsoft Office files - Try NOT to use WORD, PUBLISHER or POWERPOINT programs
to design your tradeshow! Logos or images used daily in these programs (or other similar office products) do
not print well when enlarged for signage or tradeshows. Contact you graphic designer or printer to help.
Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw or Freehand
Create at 100% final print size and save as an EPS file(ver 8 for PC) with all fonts converted to curves. Make sure all
images are embedded; do no link (or place) files. Submit one ready to print file (per print) All bitmap images should
be at least 100dpi for quality output.
PLEASE NOTE: It is advisable to include a hard copy proof print
to use as a guide! With files containing gradients and drop shadows, submit a PHOTOSHOP file for smoother gradients.
NOTE: Web art is not suitable for graphic output. |
